FAQs

Q:  Who are you?

A:  Two Latina friends who enjoy sharing information with our fellow Latinos and Non-Latino friends.  This is definitely a mom and mom shop so bear with us as we endeavor to make this a great site.

Q:  Where are you located?

A:  We are based in Steelton and Harrisburg, PA, respectively.

Q: Why is the site primarily in English?

A:  Good question!!!  Well, the simple and lazy answer is that we were both born and raised in the USA.  Neither of us has any formal education in the Spanish language.  PLUS, we like the idea of educating non-Latinos to the fact that just because you are Latina/Hispanic, how ever you want to identify yourself, does not mean you automatically know Spanish.  We love our Latin culture, just prefer our information in English as the same as about 75% of Latinos living in the US.  Also, we don't translate.  If you want THAT service there is a separate charge as we have to outsource translations.  Also, we are not opposed to receiving and listing Spanish only content.  Just as long as we don't have to translate, we're good.

Q:  Why don't you accept Political or Religious advertising?

A:  Three (in our humble opinion) good reasons.  1)  A focus group determined that politics and religion are two topics people never feel comfortable discussing.  The site should be about our culture, events, programs and products available to the community.  2)  If you want to know more details about these subjects, there are plenty of other sites online that exclusively provide information on these topics.  3)  If you put a certain group or individual on your site it is perceived as your giving them an endorsement.  For these reasons and possibly one or two more, hablanews.com will not be accepting these advertisements.  If you feel that we are failing the Latino community by avoiding the political issue (as we have already been accused), then let us know.  We will be happy to recommend to you a great web designer we know (as we have already suggested).  :)

Q:  Where did you get that GREAT Logo?

A:   An awesome and talented gentleman (see great web designer) we happened to have found on Craig's List.  Email us and we will be happy to give you his contact information.  Oh wait, he'll advertise on here himself.  Just look for David's ad.  We highly recommend him -- totally professional.
