Multicultural events at HACC-Lancaster Campus in February

Celebrations for Black History Month, Chinese New Year

LANCASTER – The public is invited to the HACC-Lancaster Campus for two upcoming events celebrating the diverse cultures in the Lancaster area.

Local African American poets will share their experiences through poetry at noon until 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2. Come to the East Building 203 at the campus, 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike.

Those offering readings of their work include Iya Isoke of Harrisburg, a poet laureate; A. Lee (G.I.) Brinson, an actor who has also appeared in the PBS documentary “Slavery and the Making of America;” Thomas Daniels, professional tutor in the office of academic success at HACC-Lancaster Campus; and Lancaster resident Norman Carter, a poet and author.

HACC celebrates the Chinese New Year noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, in the Main Building 222. Professional storyteller Linda Fang of Shanghai shares stories drawn from Chinese anecdotes, folk tales, Chinese oral traditions and opera.

Fang has engaged audiences across the country and abroad and has made appearances at the Kennedy Center and National Theatre in Washington, D.C., and on National Public Radio.

To attend events, please register online at www.hacc.edu, click on Calendar of Events and the date of the event.

For more information or questions, contact Monica Dixon of the Office of Multicultural Affairs at HACC-Lancaster Campus at 717-358-2263.
