The Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs is hosting the 2010 Latina Women
Symposium “Pennsylvania Latinas: Honoring Our Past, Strengthening Our Present and Leading Our Future,” scheduled for Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the Wyndham Abraham Lincoln Hotel in the City of Reading, Pennsylvania. This Symposium will serve as the State Official Hispanic Heritage Month Kick‐off event.
In 2008, the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs hosted the first‐ever PA Latina Women Symposium held at the capital city of Harrisburg. More than 500 individuals attended this event and it was considered the most successful event during National Women History Month in the region.
Latinos are the fastest growing ethnic group in the state and the largest minority ethnic group in the nation. This symposium offers information, professional development, leadership enhancement and educational advancement.
Keynote speakers, panels and concurrent workshops will complete this day‐long symposium geared to provide opportunities for growth in different areas impacting women and families in today’s ever‐changing society.
On behalf of Governor Edward G. Rendell and the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs, we would like to invite you to attend this event as we celebrate the accomplishments of Latina women in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania – their admirable experiences, powerful messages and social commitment will transcend generations, gender and ethnic backgrounds. We are looking forward to your participation!
